Project Description
The Kettle is a multiuse space in KU's Watson Library. My goal with the
space was to tell the story of the space, whilst not being distracting or
overwhelming to the users of the space. I chose a two-tone color pallet
using blues due to their calming and productive psychological effects.
The north wall tells the story of KU's Libraries and how they have evolved
over the course of 160 years, starting in Old North College all the way up
to getting its own building in 1924.
My favorite wall, the south wall, pays homage to the land of northeastern
Kansas and the land KU sits on. Infront of the windows, I have created over
a dozen signs explaining the native plants and their significance in the sensory
garden, as well as showcasing the native groups that lived in the area.
